A Number of Injured as Turbulence Impacts Delta Flight into Sydney

Multiple passengers and crew were hurt following a Delta jet from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia was hit by turbulence Friday morning.

The flight, numbered 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it landed at Sydney Airport, a company official informed. Four flight attendants were injured.

Local paramedics said they treated five individuals, and transferred a trio to hospital with relatively minor issues that comprised pain in the back and headaches. The injured ranged from their 30s to 70s.

The event represents the latest incident of aircraft encountering atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists saying that global warming is a key driver.

There were nearly 250 travelers and a crew of 15 on the aircraft, the official noted, stating that the plane arrived "safely" at the airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.

The NSW Ambulance Service said they got a call just only 180 seconds prior to the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were standing by on the runway.
