Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities concluded he posed a concrete flight risk while under home confinement.

The ex-president was sentenced of plotting a armed takeover in the ninth month and handed more than over two decades in incarceration, but he remained under confinement pending court reviews.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the action to imprison the 70-year-old politician was a safety action after "new facts" came to light.

This included trying to remove his tracking device and a summons to a demonstration that could enable a potential flight.

Legal Document Reveals Flight Fears

In a paperwork permitting the arrest, Justice Moraes said data from the centre monitoring the former president's confinement suggested the one-time head of state's "intention to break the tracking monitor to ensure success in his escape.

This, it said, would be assisted by the confusion caused by the demonstration called by his offspring.

Details of Guilty Verdict
