Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
